Oxford Micro Fiber Cloth

A 16 by 16 inch microfiber cleaning cloth in a polyester and polyamide blend, offered in blue or green. Built for restaurants, bars, care facility housekeeping, and car wash and detailing operations that go through cleaning cloths in volume.

The Facts

  • Blend: 78% polyester / 22% polyamide microfiber
  • Weight: 35 grams per cloth, about 210 GSM
  • Color: Blue or Green
  • Best for: Counters, tables, glass, stainless steel and vehicle detailing

The Details

Microfiber is made from synthetic fibers finer than cotton, and that fineness is what makes it work. A dense mass of tiny fibers gives the cloth a large surface area, so it lifts and holds dust and grime instead of pushing it around, and draws liquid into the spaces between the fibers.

The two fibers divide the work. Polyester gives the cloth its strength and structure, while polyamide, a type of nylon, takes up water more readily and softens the feel. At about 210 GSM, this is a light, general-purpose weight that wrings out easily and dries quickly between jobs.

Two colors make a simple system: assign blue to one area and green to another, and restroom cloths stay out of the dining room.

Economy Bar Mops, 100% Cotton Terry

A 100% cotton terry bar mop woven from thick 10s single-ply open-end yarn, with a colored stripe to tell it apart from other cloths. Built for restaurants, bars, cafes and facility kitchens that go through spill cloths in volume.

The Facts

  • Fiber: 100% cotton terry
  • Yarn: 10s single-ply open-end
  • Stripe: Colored stripe for sorting cloths by tas
  • Size: 16x19
  • Origin: Imported
  • Best for: Bar tops, spill cleanup, counters and back-of-house kitchen work

The Details

A bar mop has one main job: soak up liquid fast. Cotton suits it because it absorbs water into the fiber itself, and a thick 10s single-ply yarn puts a lot of cotton into every loop. Open-end spinning is the quick, low-cost method, which keeps a cloth that is used hard and replaced often priced for volume.

Cotton also takes hot commercial washing in stride, where synthetic cloths such as microfiber do better on cooler cycles. The colored stripe lets staff assign bar mops to particular jobs, so the cloth from the bar sink is not the one wiping down tables.
