The Details
Ring spinning pulls the cotton fibers into line and twists them tight as the yarn forms, tucking in the short ends that would otherwise stand up from the surface. The result is a smoother towel against skin, with loops strong enough for the constant use and laundering a salon puts them through.
The color is vat dyed. The dye is absorbed into the cotton in a soluble form, then set as an insoluble pigment inside the fiber, where washing cannot easily reach it. That keeps each towel's shade steady through repeated laundering.
Vat dyeing does not make a towel bleach-proof, and these are not bleach-safe. Hair lightener and bleach-based cleaners can spot them, so stations that handle lightener are better served by a bleach-resistant towel.
