The Details
Every loop in this towel is made from two strands of yarn twisted together rather than one. Plying makes a stronger, more even yarn than a single strand of the same fiber, so the loops hold up better against the rubbing of washing and tumbling, which is where towels wear out first.
Combing adds to that. Before spinning, the cotton is combed to strip out short fibers, leaving longer, more uniform fiber with fewer loose ends at the surface. That keeps the terry smooth rather than fuzzy as it ages.
The border carries small pile loops set into a checkered pattern, so it reads as texture rather than a flat stripe across the ends of the towel.
